The Healing Properties of Natural Medicines
Nina, several years ago, experienced a broken arm while we were out
boating. We all heard the bone snap. While making preparation to get
her to shore quickly, a makeshift sort of ER happened:
- Her husband Bob, was arranging the transportation
- Patti, was packing her arm with ice
- David, was making a place for her to rest her arm
- I was pouring pure plant oils of Helichrysum, and
Birch, natural medicines, on her arm.

Helichrysum is a natural topical anesthetic among other things, and
Birch helps to stimulate healing in bones. Nature has many medicines
like this.

Modern Medicine meets Natural
Medicine
When Nina arrived at the hospital, the nurse, told her that
the nature of her fracture indicated a spider fracture, that
is, the bone fractured in several places along the length of
the bone, as well as a possible broken wrist, very bad news
for a beautician. The doctors x-rayed her arm, and found just
what they had expected.
During the process, the nurse asked Nina what her pain level
on a scale of one to ten was, ten being the worst, since she
would need to move her arm around for the x-ray. Nina replied
'zero'.
The medical staff was amazed. After being astounded, given the
type of fracture, they began to pay more attention to the sweet
aroma they could all smell. It was the Birch and Helichrysum.
When Nina explained to them what it was there was a mixture
of amusement, and (begrudging) respect. |

Medical expectations
The medical staff proceeded to explain that a fracture of this sort,
would take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Nina had that cast off in three.
She kept up with the birch oil, and actually developed a sincere interest
in taking charge of her own health. Seeing the results that the oils
had already produced for her had that kind of effect. Nina now takes
an active interest in health and prevention. We all, especially Nina,
agreed that we were thankful for both natural, and conventional medicine
that day. This is truly what I would call cooperative medicine.
